Proven Fact:
If You Don't Cure Your Snoring Sleep Loss Will Shorten Your Lifespan

Always Tired?
(A sleep disorder can literally KILL you...)

The upcoming annual golf trip was just three weeks away and the jokes were already flying around. "Bring the earplugs" they teased. "We're drawing straws for Mike's bunk mate". As good natured as the teasing was, it was social embarrassing for Mike. He knew snoring was common but he also knew his snoring was abnormally loud and intrusive. Mike knew he needed some type of snoring remedy to cure his snoring.

Not only being labeled "the snorer", Mike would also routinely wake up extremely tired in the mornings. Chalking it up to too many late nights, he always vowed to get to bed earlier the next night, always waking in the morning with the same outcome – sluggish, unmotivated and just going through the motions of the day.

It's all too a familiar occurrence; everyone has a snoring story to tell. But what may not be familiar to you, is snoring can be a danger to your health, affect your work, dissolve relationships and be the underlying cause of many safety concerns.

Without a Snoring Remedy Your Health May Be In Jeopardy.. (Heart diseases, heart attacks, strokes, and more are often linked to sleep debt!)

What you deem a simple snoring problem can lead to serious health concerns. Even death!

Adequate sleep is vital to your overall health. No less than water, air and food. It’s simply crucial to allow your body and brain, the time it needs to re-boot every day. If you're not getting enough sleep due to snoring then you need a snoring remedy.

When you sleep, your heart slows itself down and it relieves the stress you've gathered throughout your day. Your body needs time to decompress and gather energy to face another morning. Your blood pressure drops. Your body and brain refresh itself. You decrease the severity of age-related diseases.  You can control illnesses such as hypertension, obesity, diabetes and memory loss.

Impaired sleep can harm your heart by putting undue stress and strain on the muscle. Cardiovascular disease, heart attacks, strokes and in extreme cases, death, have all been linked, to sleep debt. Chronic sleep loss hinders your body's ability to perform even basic metabolic functions, including regulating your hormones.

Snoring is often a pre-cursor to a more severe problem, know as sleep apnea. Those afflicted experience a blockage in their breathing airway, without even realizing it. This blockage deprives them of getting oxygen regularly throughout the night. Sleep apnea has a huge affect on heart disease. Apnea sufferers have an increase in developing high blood pressure – a major risk factor in developing heart disease and strokes.

The effects of sleep deprivation can lead to severe health concerns and an untimely death. Sleep deficiencies can negatively affect your brain function, which increases your stress hormones and leads to depression.

Sleep loss boosts your appetite - and... your waist line.

In a perfect world, we would all go to sleep and wake up lighter. No grapefruit diet plan. No working out for hours in the gym. No herbal supplements or magic pill. Just sleep and wake up thinner than we went to bed.

Sound like a dream? Wait a minute. There is definitely some truth to the tale. The key to weight loss can be as simple as getting adequate rest.

Research shows people who lack proper shut eye tend to weigh more than those who have regular, quality sleep. There is certainly a vital balance between good sleep and good health. People with sleep deficiencies have altered levels of a hormone known to control hunger. This causes an increase in your appetite and also in your preference for high calorie foods.

When your body is cheated out of sleep, there are numerous physical consequences. Lack of sleep affects your hormones, your appetite and your mood. When you are tired, you tend to crave comfort foods and are more likely to indulge your craving for them. Rather than grabbing for the celery sticks, you will chose chocolate, chips and candy.

Although you may feel like you’ve received a temporary boost in your energy, you will find you are hungry more frequently. Because the real problem is your sleepiness not your hunger, it will lead you not just in making poor choices but frequent poor choices.

Furthermore, when you are tired, you are less resistant to stress, which triggers emotional eating for a lot of people. People will use food to keep awake, again, failing to recognize its sleep your body is craving, not the food.

What does all this mean? Simply stated – lack of sleep increases your appetite and encourages weight gain. Anyone who encounters the late night munchies can testify to that.

Antidepressants may be responsible for the rise in the prevalence of a sleep disorder.

People with sleep disorders are more prone to depression.
At some point in time, everyone has felt a little down in the dumps. A little blue - not wanting to face the day. These feelings of sadness are normal but when they become prolonged, they can be the early stages or onset of depression. Depression intensifies your feelings of sadness, lasts for extended periods of time and prevents you from leading a normal life.

Lack of sleep alone, generally doesn’t cause depression. It does, however, play a significant role. Lack of sleep makes depression worse by upsetting your daily routine and interfering with your personal, professional and social life.

A recent study points out people who suffer from sleep problems are very likely to develop depression and depression-like symptoms at some point. The risk of depression is directly connected to the severity of the sleep disorder. The shorter or poorer-quality of sleep you get at night is directly reflected in the seriousness of the symptoms. Another study implies people with depression are five times more likely to have a breathing-related sleep disorder than non-depressed people.

Antidepressants can cause sleep disorders
When depression sets in - antidepressants will generally be prescribed. We all know they can alter and lift a person’s mood. Some antidepressants can also provoke or aggravate sleep disorders. One such disorder – REM behavior disorder – finds people acting out their often violent dreams, while they are asleep.

Doctors are noticing this trend in younger and younger patients. Patients that are relying on antidepressants. They say this disorder is on the rise as more people turn to the broad use of medications. Knowing what the chemicals are doing to the brain, doctors aren’t surprised of the side affects associated with the drugs.

Lack of Sleep Seriously Affects Your Job Performance.
("I'm sorry that we have to let you go, but we need someone who's actually awake on the job.")

The company's 3:00 meeting is hours away and you are propping your head up now. How are you ever going to get through a boring presentation in a stuffy boardroom? Maybe you will run out for some fresh air and a dark roast extra large coffee to rejuvenate yourself. Then again, maybe you will just curl up under you desk and hope no one notices you missing . . . .

Fatigued employees are costing organizations and companies billions of dollars in lost productivity. What does that mean for you? It could equal the loss of your job!
Caffeine-stimulated and sleep deprived employees have an awful rate of job satisfaction. With no other major obstacle present, lack of sleep alone can lead them to hating their jobs. That news isn’t too promising for employers, given the general workforce is getting less sleep on average.

Research shows people unsatisfied with their jobs leave their companies at a higher rate than those happy and committed to their positions. Tired employees are more likely to miss work and have an increase in absenteeism. Both as a coping mechanism and due to health-related problems, employees will fail to show for work.

If your position requires you to deal directly with clients and customers, this can negatively impact your company’s bottom line. The connection between happy employees and satisfied customers is obvious although sleep deprived workers are virtually alienating customers.

When you are tired, your mind and body aren't functioning at normal capacity, making it hard to get through your work day. You lack concentration – routinely making mistakes, showing your impatience with co-workers and showing apathy toward your job.

Lack of attention and fatigue, lead to more on-the-job accidents and lead to errors in judgment. This lack of judgment can lead to dire consequences for you and your company. You or someone you know might be in a position that requires you to operate machinery, drive vehicles and use tools and electric gear. A slight impairment in your judgment – too slow a reaction time, a miscalculation of distance – can lead to grave harm and even death.

Short On Sleep = Shortfall in Your Relationships.
(Couples who struggle with sleep disorders have a high
divorce rate.)

It’s an image that plays out in numerous bedrooms across the globe. A bed partner is prone to snoring, while the other spends their night nudging and elbowing and grumbling through another sleepless night. At some point, in those dark, deep morning hours, a trek to the uncomfortable couch or spare bedroom happens. Usually the culprit is completely unaware of what has taken place. Completely unaware their spouse is annoyed, discontent and ready to move on.

A peaceful night’s sleep may be the secret to a successful marriage.
While snoring and its related sufferings are preventing you from getting a full and restful sleep, you probably don’t recognize the damage it’s taking on your relationships. You don’t recognize the damage and you don’t fully appreciate what your spouse is going through.

If you are waking during the night or if you struggle with continuous snoring, your bed partner's sleep is equally compromised. Even if they, night after night, are exposed to your horrible sleep habits, their sleep is being equally divided.

Couples who struggle with snoring and the often undiagnosed, sleep apnea, have a higher rate of divorce. Both people lack the proper amount of sleep, resulting in an increase in tension, conflict and ultimately a stain on the marriage.

Snoring is often dismissed as a joke, but it can lead to the breakdown of relationships. Partners can’t endure the disrupted sleep and the ensuing emotional toll it takes on both of them.

Outside the bedroom walls, your other relationships are being damaged as well. Friends, co-workers and other family members can sense even the subtle changes in your personality. A simple conversation can result in your irritation, intolerance and impatience with others. It's not you talking – it's the lack of sleep!

While your sleep loss is unlikely to destroy an otherwise secure relationship, it can certainly intensify problems or disagreements. When your head is fuzzy and you can't communicate effectively, problem sleepers often become depressed and dissatisfied with their own relationships. Even interactions with your children can be negatively impacted.

Safety Risk Factors Increase - When Sleep Decreases.

"And today...
we all ask why this man had to go so soon."

(Why? He fell asleep behind the wheel !!!)

After their annual family vacation, the Wilson's were heading down the highway on the home stretch to reality. The kids were all fast asleep in the back seat, exhausted from their adventures. Trevor and Kate were recapping the week's events when suddenly, a Jeep, heading down the opposite side of the highway careened into the ditch and proceeded to flip and roll a dozen times before coming to a complete stop.

Shocked by what they had witnessed, they scanned the papers the following morning to determine the fate of the vehicle's occupants. The lone inhabitant of the vehicle was pronounced dead on the scene. The paper reported the cause of the crash: “the driver apparently fell asleep at the wheel".

Impaired sleep is a major cause of accidents. Plain and simple. Fatigue and carelessness resulting from sleep loss, contributes to more disasters than we're aware of. More than one-third of people polled, who said they had driven while drowsy, indicated they have fallen asleep at the wheel!

While it shocks no one to learn lack of sleep can alter emotions and can trigger a bad mood, it may be astounding to realize that sleep deprived individuals have the same reaction time as someone under the influence of alcohol. A recent study indicates sleep deprived folks account for well over half of all accidents on the road.

Inadequate amounts of sleep affect your reaction time and attentiveness. Workplace related accidents result in financial burdens affecting society, the health care system and obviously the individual. Almost 20 percent of all workplace related injuries occur because of a person’s tiredness.

Driving while drowsy sounds harmless enough. Going about your daily routine when you are sleep deprived doesn’t appear to be hurting anyone. The truth is – it’s dangerous. Sleepiness is a non-discriminating liability and can impair your reaction time, your physical and mental capabilities and your ability to process information and make judgments.

Bedwetting:
The average family will spend more on disposable diapers than it costs to correct the sleep disorder.

No sweet dreams . . .
When children transition to potty-training, there are bound to be some accidents along the way. That’s expected when they move away from diapers and move toward the bathroom.  They are busy playing and forget about it until it’s too late. They drink too much at lunch and it hits them too fast. But when nighttime bedwetting moves beyond the occasion accident, there could be a lot more going on with your child.

Most children with bedwetting have no medical reason for doing so. There are, however, a category of children who begin bedwetting after developing sleep disorders.

The most common disorder associated with soiling the bed, is sleep apnea. This condition blocks air from getting from the nose and mouth, to the lungs while you sleep. There is a prevalent link showing children with sleep apnea are at an increased risk for nighttime wetting, more so than children not suffering from any sleep problems.

Children disturbed with sleep apnea do not get restful sleep. Therefore, when they are in a sleep state, it takes them longer to be fully aware and it decreases their response time. It prevents them from waking up when their bladders are full and they end up wetting the bed. Additionally, the breathing disorder puts excess pressure on the bladder and can contribute to an increase in urine production.

I’ve lost my sex drive – any idea where it went?
Your lack of sleep is sabotaging your sex life.

Let’s face it. Not a lot of men will openly discuss - never mind admit - they have trouble getting romantic. With pride in the way and a subject that is slightly taboo, this secret is kept classified, shared between himself and his partner.

Woody Allen once said “Sex is the most fun you can have without laughing”. If you suffer from impotence, you would agree this is no laughing matter. It’s a frustrating, embarrassing, uncomfortable position to be in.

It may be that you have no physical barrier standing in your way. The main obstacle you are combating is lack of desire. You have no longing to be intimate. No craving for sex. Your libido has all but packed up and booked the next train out.

A major hurdle between you and your next passionate night – could be sleep. Or lack thereof.

Sleep is imperative in all areas of your health and your sex life is no exception. New evidence suggests a man’s testosterone levels and their variations could be linked to sleep.

It’s a well known fact that a man’s testosterone level varies and usually declines with age. High levels of the hormone have been linked to improved blood pressure, hair loss and a shrinking waistline. Decreased libido, loss of interest in sex and the inability to maintain an erection, may all be the cause of inadequate levels of testosterone.

Snoring and/or sleep apnea critically hinder the quality of your sleep. Not getting enough rest can be extremely damaging to your sex life. Most men would attribute problems between the sheets to many external factors: stress, work, kids, money, responsibilities, family obligations, etc. The truth is, sleep deprived men have disrupted body clocks and a much poorer libido than those getting adequate sleep throughout the night.

Reports have indicated that men who habitually snore or suffer from sleep apnea secrete abnormally low levels of testosterone throughout the night. The lack of this hormone results in a malfunctioning libido and can lead to bouts of impotence and lack of sexual desire.

A healthy lifestyle is the best way to ensure a healthy libido. This includes a nutritious diet, ensuring you get your heart moving on a regular basis and reduce and manage your stress. Most importantly, you need sleep. Lots and lots of sleep. Your sex life depends on it.
